People first settled in Koh Samui around 1500 years ago, and the first inhabitants were fisherman who took advantage of the rich waters offering a plentiful supply of fish and other sea-food along with the fertile land.  It is hard to imagine a more perfect tropical island than Koh Samui, where the lush mountainous interior leads down to endless swathes of coconut groves, and a shore fringed with white sandy beaches and ancient granite boulders. Calm, clear waters are always warm and inviting, and numerous surrounding islands offer their mysteries to explore.

Spearfishing Information

LOCATION:
Koh Samui and the islands around the area including Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, Southwestern Thailand
Pickup is arranged at thr  International airport in Koh Samui with many easy connections to Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong.

DIVING CONDITIONS:  The waters in this area are warm, ranging between 68 and 85 Fahrenheit (20-30 Celsius).  Offshore visibility is marginal at best around Samui.
Koh Tao is better but is a challenge with the diving community which is so prevalent there.  Most spots can be speared at depths of 5 to 15 feet (2-5m). Mostly fishing near shore.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL:  This destination is great for all level of spearos, from shallow shooting of easy species, to expert bluewater spearing. 

SPECIES ENCOUNTERED:   Roosterfish, flounder, parrotfish, can be found.
Groupers, many kinds of snappers including red snapper, dog fish, trevally, barracuda, queen fish, cobia, coral trout

BOAT & ACCOMODATIONS:  Lodging is easy as there is a large selection of nice bungalow resorts all over the island.  Any class you like is available here from basic to luxury.  We take care of the boat and such for the spearo trips.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES:
Snake show, night life with full on bars and discos, amazing water falls and elephant riding, fishing, hiking and horseback riding are all available.  Trips are also arranged to a very big lake, “Big Dam”.  Lots of nice foods and local fruits (DURIAN), and coconuts galore!

BEST TIME TO VISIT:  Anytime! 

COST /LENGTH OF STAY:  This is a low-to med cost destination.  No minimum stay required.
